Could This Be THE “Perfect Bar?”

I was at Costco last week, walking up and down the aisles, and out of the corner of my eye I catch a box of these bars called “Perfect Bar” in the refrigerated section of the store. In the refrigerator section? I’m already excited because I know if it needs to be refrigerated it probably has little or no other preservatives. I grabbed a box and I’m SO happy I did! This bar really is PERFECT!

First, the story…The Keith family, led by Dr. Bud Keith, knew all about “health food” since back in the 60’s when health food wasn’t even a thing. He was a true health food pioneer. He packed his family in an RV and spent time traveling from San Diego all over the country spreading the word about healthy food and fitness. Bud decided to mix a variety of superfoods into a powder, mixed it with peanut butter and honey-and the Perfect Bar was born. He fed these bars to his kids for years. Today, Keith’s oldest kids have continued his passion and offer a product that I absolutely LOVE!

The “Perfect Bar” is organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, certified Kosher. One of my favorite things about these bars is that they are made with high quality WHOLE FOOD PROTEIN! The best kind! No suspicious protein powders here! The bars are sweetened with organic honey, which provides complex carbohydrates important for young athletes. To me, the most unique aspect of this bar is that they have incorporated a blend of 20 “expertly-hidden” superfoods in powder form, including kale, spinach, alfalfa, celery and flax seed, to name a few.

These delicious bars come in a variety of flavors, including a few vegan ones which use organic dates as a sweetener. No refined sugar in their bars…ever. There’s Peanut Butter, Carob Chip, Fruit & Nut, Cranberry Crunch, Almond Acai, Almond Butter, and Almond Coconut. I haven’t tried all flavors but so far the Almond Butter is my favorite! These bars are truly delicious, taste fresh every time, with just the right amount of sweet and nut, and even those with 13 grams of protein, none of them taste powdery or heavy.

Bars range in calories from little 100-calorie “Mini Bars,” in Peanut Butter and Almond butter, to “Lite’’ bars (200-calories), like Cranberry Crunch and Almond Acai. These are perfect for in between meals and as a pre-practice or pre-game snack. The rest of the bars are higher in calories, most at around 300 calories, and I love these when I’m using them as meals-on-the-go. They are filling and satisfying and have everything you want (nuts, honey, kale, spinach, flax seeds, sesame seeds and much more) in a really delicious bar!

Instead of artificial preservatives, Bud found natural preservers of food-organic honey and COLD! The bars need to be refrigerated to maintain freshness, so I keep them in my fridge and take them out as I need them! Small price to pay for a preservative-free delicious natural product! You can find these bars nationwide, at local Whole Foods, Mother’s Markets, and select grocery stores.
